Carburetor Balance Tube?

Post by hefyjefy » Mon Apr 21, 2014 12:47 am

The Honda 250 305 Shop manual states:

Poor idling may be caused by...
"an intake manifold leak or leakage between the carburetors at the balance tube"
Does anyone know where the "balance tube" is? As far as I can see there is no connection between one carburetor and the other, either on the bike (CB77) or in the parts manual.

Probably a typo. The CB125 twin had a balance pipe and I think that the CB250/350 had one but not the CB72/77

Then..

What's this on my CB77 ? The little tube under the air intake.

I haven't touched it, runs fine this way, so it's fine with me.

That's a pair of breathers that lead to the inlet valve guides to prevent oil being drawn past the valve stems on overrun. Deleted on later models.

Linking them will stop dirt getting in.
