Post by tom0811 » Fri Mar 14, 2014 4:49 pm

Hello, been lurking the forum and learned alot of good info, thanks. Now to my problem, I am rebuilding a 1965 305 motor and have it stripped down to the crankcase(havent split them yet) I found a smsmall pin in the bin that I have the motor in and I cant find it in the parts breakdowns that I have. Below is a drawing and dimensions. Thank You Tom

That looks like the pin for the oil filter. If you have the oil filter and shaft handy, see if the pin fits into the shaft and then slide the oil filter onto the shaft. On the backside of the filter, there is a notch milled out where the head of the pin fits into. Hopefully that's it, if not, perhaps somebody else will jump in with an idea.

Dimensions don't fit the oil filter pin which is much smaller.
I wonder of this part belongs to the CB72/77, I don't recall such a part.
assembly of Japanese motorcycles requires great peace of mind (Pirsig)

Don't know that I've ever seen that part in a CB/CB72/77 engine. ............lm
