CL72 Compression Question

Post by Ray Smith » Fri Dec 20, 2013 7:32 pm

Hello Group,
I've got a '64 CL72 under restoration and have concerns about the engine compression. Both cylinders are just over 120 lbs. I have the factory shop manual which lists the lower service limit at around 113 lbs so I would not have worried about it too much except that I also have the Bill Silvers restoration guides which indicate the compression should be higher (much higher). Is this thing going to run?

I think you'll be fine with 120 lbs.

Thanks cbxmountainman. I guess the next step for me is to bead blast the cylinders and head out in the backyard.
