CL tires

Post by Jethro » Tue Oct 01, 2013 12:53 pm

Hey there. Just picked up a '65 CL77 and I've been working hard at it. I've been researching tires though and can't find much about them. I've searched the forums but all the good info seems to not really apply now because the posts about them are pretty old. I'm looking for a few ideas. I might just get some street tires but I also might get some that look a bit more original. I saw on a post a while back that there were people on ebay selling a package deal for both front and back? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Jeff

Dunlop K70s usually look good on these although the correct 3.00 front is no longer available and you have to go up a size to 3.25.

Great Thanks! I've been looking around at some deals because I'm all about CHEAP! Here's what I've found in case anyone is looking to save a few bucks.

Thanks again G-Man!

Jeff

Jeff

I like the front. That looks just right for a classic bike. The rear looks a bit odd without staggered tread blocks, but I'm sure it will do the job.

K70 Info?

Post by clb745 » Thu Oct 31, 2013 8:49 am

Looks like Dunlop K70s, 3.25 x 19 front & 3.50 x19 rear, are going to be my choices for my '63 CL72, but have some questions:

1. Bike Bandit appears to have the best prices, but they list the 3.50 x 19 for front use only which is interesting since the Dunlop website lists it for front/rear. Are there any concerns about using the 3.50 tire on the rear wheel? I talked to a customer service rep at Bike Bandit and he said not to do use it on the rear. Has Dunlop changed the tire so that it's not suitable for rear wheel use?

2. Are there any fitment or clearance problems using K70s on the CL72/77 bikes?

Thanks,

Jim

Pretty sure this is running those tires.

The K70s have rotation arrows to show which way round they should go. It's just a matter of getting that right.

No problem running the 350-19 on the rear. The info I have is that the tire is suitable for either front or rear use. They are a universal type tire and do not have any arrows for rotation. I have 325-19 and 350-19 K70's on my own Scrambler and have installed them on other peoples Scramblers as well.
