Anti-Gravity Battery

Post by JSharpPhoto » Fri Sep 13, 2013 10:36 pm

I'm looking to replace my battery with something a bit smaller. I've been advised to look at the anti-gravity batteries. They're very small, and don't get damaged if they're completely drained, unlike other batteries.

There's the 4 cell, and the 8 cell.

The 4 cell says "Capable of every day use in bikes up to 250cc"

The 8 cell says "Capable of every day use in bikes up to 550cc"

My bike is a kickstart only 1967 CB77. Do you guys think the 4 cell would handle my super hawk? or do I need to go up to the 8 cell to be safe?

Or should I just go with an AGM battery? I can lay that on its side, right?

no experience, but a quote from their website......

" (Please note if you use older classic bikes from mid 1980s and earlier you should update the charging sytems to a modern voltage regulator)"

I have read that they don't like to be overcharged, and they contain a flammable, PRESSURIZED electrolyte

One of the electrical guru's will hopefully chime in...

JS, the AGM is very close to the stock battery, but has more cranking amps and no acid overflow tube. I have not run one on my super hawk, tho the one on my yama vision lasted 9 years! Fully charged they are 12.8 volts, it only needs to be charged if it gets down to 12.6 volts

Can someone confirm that a AGM can be mounted laying on its side?

Well that solves that. I can mount it laying down inside my seat hump.
