What a concept - A Girl Bringing Back Her 1966 Super Hawk
Ed got me all sorted out! We also covered some of the other little things I've been doing, such as using acetone along with the steel wool on the cables, using a rubber band as a seal on that speedo drive (I have what's left of the original, mostly there still, so I'll use it), and we talked about prelubing the engine before the first run. You know, it's exciting to be able to talk about such things as a "first run". A little sad, too, because it means this journey as getting close to the end.
I'll just have to find a Scrambler to redo next! 1965 CB77 305 Super Hawk

BIKEPlease call again. ........lm
I'll call tomorrow, Ed.
I spent the afternoon in the garage. I polished out the front brake backing plate and the brake linkages. It looks nice! I also got a good start on the front wheel. The rim is cleaning up very well. It's far from perfect, but it the patina it has is not objectionable. The hub is cleaning up, I've got all of that darned clear coat off of it, and I've been attacking the spokes, as well. I did some work on the triple clamps and all of the spacers, and nuts and things that hold the front end together. They're looking very good. Tomorrow I'll get the inspection stickers (NY State, from 1976 and 1977) off of the fork legs and prep them for paint. I think I'm on a roll! 1965 CB77 305 Super Hawk

I still have two NJ test stickers from the 70's on my CL175, the paint and chrome is still all factory original, I am reluctant to refurb it as it will lose all of that but one day I will probably have to do it. 1977 CB400F

I thought about leaving them on there. And now that you mention it, I may yet do that. But, the rest of bike is coming out so nicely - patina where it needs to be, newness elsewhere - that it almost seems wrong not to paint those sliders. I'll think about it. 1965 CB77 305 Super Hawk

The jury is still out on those fork sliders with the cool old inspection stickers - oh, and one of those is a "Town of Southold Parking Permit 1976". That makes this tougher!
The paint for the frame will be here Thursday. I hope I get to use it! I'm a little delayed in working on the bike, I haven't been able to put the time in I expected this week. I had a big bicycle race Sunday (took second in my age category), and yesterday I went on a long ride and ended up crashing my bicycle. I'm okay, just a little road rash, and a lot of pissed off. I hit a root heave on the Coastal Rec Trail that I didn't see, and the city that stretch of Trail belongs to got an earful from little bitty me this morning. That sort of killed my day. Here's hoping I can paint tomorrow. 1965 CB77 305 Super Hawk
1989 NT650 Hawk GT 1981 Yamaha XJ550 Seca How about getting copies made and re-applying them?
I got this dealer transfer replicated for my Dream project and will re-apply it. Original Dealer transfer by graham.curtis, on Flickr Walter Brandish was a TT rider who had a corner of the course named after him so I wanted to preserve that. The firm is still in existence as a car dealership in the same city... Sorry to hear about your road rash. Need to get some resto-therapy to calm the nerves.......
