I ended up ordering these.. I've installed them already too.

Hurry! only 6 left!!

Here is what they look like on my bike: http://www.honda305.com/forums/1964-hon ... light=ca77

Don't get me wrong, I would've liked to have only spent 100 per tire but at 145.00 for FIRESTONES!!! I'll take a set.

White walls

Post by conbs » Fri May 24, 2013 12:21 am

Well, I heard back from Benji today. Sava said there was no way to easily increase the speed rating and the price would end up at about $60 per tire. He has been following this thread and doesn't see enough interest here to justify the minimum order of 200 tires. They are a scooter shop and not really into motorcycle gear.

Cheers to Treatland for being willing to take a look at this idea. Unfortunately it is a no go at this point.

Who knows? Maybe I will buy a set of black walls and paint a wide white wall on them.

Thanks to all who engaged to see if this could be made to work.

FWIW, if you can find Chen Shin universal tread in the appropriate size, there is a perfect raised ring molded in the sidewall that could be painted to reproduce the narrow whitewall.

When my front Kings tire with wide porta walls wears out, I going to give it a try, as I have a set waiting.

narrow white walls

Thanks for that tip Brewsky. I like the wide white walls, but I now some don't and really like the narrow ones. Your tip will make this thread helpful to a lot more people.

I actually like them both.

I think the narrow style started with the 1966 production, so they may be more "correct" on the later models. (This assumption comes from the changes in sales brochure pics).

Actual memory of those years is a little fuzzy!

Narrow White Walls

Post by conbs » Sun May 26, 2013 10:27 am

My early '65 has the original Nitto's and they are narrow.

I am not sure if I am remembering this correct, but I think I read somewhere that the narrow and wide white walls were mixed during production and some bikes even came with black walls. It would make sense that Honda would put on whatever tires they could get. I have 2 original Ohtsu tires and both are wide whites.

Anybody have wide white Nitto's or narrow Ohtsu's?
