Foot peg position / cylinder / battery strap questions

Post by Dunnett » Mon May 20, 2013 11:20 am

Thanks in advance for answering these questions - I'm a newbie to the 305 and appreciate the help.

The foot rests on my 1965 305 don't seem to line up and I know they should, From the images can anyone tell me what I need to do? There doesn't seem to be any room for adjustment - maybe one of them is wrong for this bike?

Also, there is a small hose attachment running from each cylinder - where is the hose supposed to connect to?

Last but not least - the battery strap appears to be missing. Any thoughts on a replacement?

Thanks again!

Hi and welcome to the forum. The foot rests look correct to me. The only thing I see is that the right side may be off counter-clockwise by one spline (may need to be rotated clockwise a little).

The battery is held down by a tool tray that is missing (see your parts manual). That tray also holds the air filter cover (also missing) in place. Yours is an "early" Dream that uses a longer battery, not the shorter one in the photo.

The nipples on each side of the carb vent the intake valve guides to reduce oil consumption. They were connected back to the air filter by tubing. Apparently they don't do much, and Honda removed them in later years and you can just cap them.

Where 'ya from?

I also am missing the tool tray/battery strap.

Are they available or does someone have a home made way to hold the battery down that they would like to share ?
