I have a black one, a red one, and a blue one. The blue is my favorite.

Thanks Dick. Blue is rare but have you ever seen one all chrome with polished alloy fenders ?

Restoring a blue '65 CL72 as well

Post by Super90guy » Thu Apr 11, 2013 12:21 am

Just joined this forum as my '65 CL72 project is finally front burner. MrHonda Bill roped me into the Honda rodeo almost 20 years ago beginning with a '65 S90 restoration. Had a new '67 CL77 while stationed on Guam in the late '60's but my next duty station (Vietnam) forced its sale. I restored a blue '66 CB77 previously & subsequently owned a '64 CL72 that had an interesting prior ownership. The current '65 build began with acquisition of a freshly painted black bike that otherwise needed complete restoration. After a complete motor & carb rebuild by TX Ed Moore, rechrome of the shiny stuff, and acquisition of the typical worn out parts, the bike is now ready for blue powder coating. The wheels & hubs will be redone after initial reassembly & the bugs are worked out. I'm replacing the rims with satin finish aluminum variants & stainless spokes, which I realize precludes the bike from show status. I'll not part with the (decent) old metal rims just in case I want to build an NOS set down the road. I'll post some picts in the coming months depicting the assembly process, which will likely involve MrHonda Bill's participation at various times. I've attached a pict of my long departed blue CB77... its departure sadly a function of my lanky bod which makes scramblers a far better fit.
