This great stuff! I wish I'd read it before I buggered up 50% of the phillips screws on my engine. ;)

I found a place( cmsni.com that has almost any screws you may need. Good people to work with. They have very clear schematics to view.

I recently obtained a set of the Vessel brand JIS screwdrivers, now available from a few sources in the US. What a difference compared to the Snap-On, Craftsman, etc. pieces I've used for decades. If you're serious about working on these bikes, they will make things much easier. Regards, Chase

The root problem we all face with the Phillips Head screws on Japanese bikes is that the screw drivers we get in the US are SAE standard and the Japanese use the JIS standard for their Phillips head screws, which has a slightly different internal shape. The SAE tips don't engage the screw head properly and will try to cam out. If you search online there are JIS standard Phillips screw drivers available and using them will solve 99 percent of the problem.
