I got the same set a while back, and it is missing the one long filter screw (6x115), (as are most sets), which is harder to find.

It is almost impossible to find it in a phillips head if you are looking for original screw type fasteners.

This is the only vendor I have found with the correct screws in that length:

Looks like a good supply but I don't see hex head bolts. Witch screw is the "long fiter screw" I was sure that I got all of the covers screws. Now I wonder if I am missing one LOL. A photo of this screw on the bike would help.

Flutetears, I'm assuming Brewsky is talking about the long panhead screw that holds the oil filter cover on the l/case, if so, here is a source.

JIS

Post by conbs » Fri Dec 14, 2012 8:15 am

Remember that the original case screws have JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) heads. If you use a regular Phillips screwdriver/bit you will almost certainly "cam out" the head. If you compare a regular Phillips and JIS you will see that the angle of the 4 blades are different where they fit down in the screw head. With the shallower angle on a Phillips driver/bit the tip will bottom out before the blades sit all the way into the screw head at the top. If you try to use a regular Phillips you will ruin a lot of case screws.

There is a post by Jensen (Jensey) where he shows how he removes original screws. He uses a JIS screwdriver and the screws are still good when he is done. The big "phillips" screwdriver that came in your tool kit is JIS. Some guys use that along with the "T" handle for case screws and report pretty good success.

Get a JIS screwdriver or bit and your frustration level will go down quite a bit. You can make a #3 Phillips work if you grind a little off of the very tip so its sits deeper in the screw head. But, in the long run you will save yourself a lot of headache and money by just getting the right tool. It beats paying $13 with shipping (and having to wait) to get a $0.70 screw.

I think if you actually try to buy it, you will get an answer that it is no longer available.
At least that is what happened to me....several times.

That same screw is actually used on some Honda Acura models, and I was told it was available, paid for it at a Honda car dealer, only to be told the next day it was out of production.
