Ca 77/78 original color

Post by Gadgitman » Fri Nov 09, 2012 11:37 am

Is there a way to tell what color my bike was originally? Any way by the #'s or just scrape or look hard? Thanks for any help!

Hi,

If the bike has original rear shocks, check the inside of the top cover,

WHat color is it now? Why might you think it not original? Inside the headlight bucket is another place. Inside the side covers. Chain cover. Taillight.

It's blue now, well like 3 shades of blue. I was hoping that there was a paint code plate or number.

So, you asked the wrong question ?
You knew it was original blue, but you wanted to know the colour code ?

There's enough info about that on the forum, why didn't you search for the answer in the paint section or using the search function ?

I was thinking it was white when new because the rear fender has a spot about the size of a half dollar where the blue paint fell off and it's white there. One shock had a sticker I didn't like and pulled it off. Under there was black. Inside the headlight is black. Inside the left ( coil ) cover is green. I noticed while putting on the new front tire that the underside is black. The swingarm has a spot that looks red thru a scratch. The tank paint is worn off where the seat rubs it and looks all blue. I am thinking I might have a mutt! I really believe in keeping any classic as close to original configuration as economically possible. But I really like black! My other 3 classic Hondas are black 2 where originally black. The only one I changed to black from yellow is a very radical custom. If no one can tell what color by looking at a number or code on the bike then I will eventually paint it black or maybe even white.
