Spark Issues - Need Advice

Post by ragman » Thu Sep 27, 2012 4:11 pm

Hello all...

Here is the situation... My 1964 Ca77 has been running perfect for several months, starting every time. Now all the sudden my left plug (both plugs are only a few months old) isn't sparking. I've verified the following:

- points are gapped appropriately and clean
- timing is right on

What would you recommend I look at next?... condensor, coil, trimming back plug wire?

Thanks for your help...

Easiest and quickest check would be to swap your plugs and see if the left side fires or try some new plugs. I always have a spare set of new plugs ready in case I foul out when I'm on the road.

If one side fires fine, it won't be your points or condenser. Hoosier's right. Swapping the wires will tell you if it is in the wires or in the plugs. Trimming wires won't help if you have a bad plug. Changing plugs won't help if you've got a problem in a wire.

Let us know what you find out.
