Honda Dream CA77 305 Points and Timing Walk-Through
This guide worked like a charm. Only thing is my light didnt work. so i used a meter, and everytime I turned it to the "F" it clicked just before. so i adjusted it and i can honestly say my Dream is running better than it had. I also did a spark plug change along with this guide as i would think anyone would.
thanks again for the guide 65 Sears Puch 250 69 Dream 305 74 Kawi H1 78 CB750 SS
Points' gapping adjustment should be carried out when the fibre heel of the points is on the highest lobe(s) of the cam -- or in line with the scribe mark on the end of the points' camshaft. Then adjust the timing so that, at the exact moment they open then the mark 'F' is in line with the pointer; the test light method, as previously delineated by paperslammer, is ideal for static setup. A timing strobe light should be employed after static setup to ensure that maximum advance, when the engine is revved-and-held higher in the range, does not exceed the 45-48º timing marks scribed c/w of the 'T' & 'F' marks on the alternator rotor. Sorry some responses are late, FWIW; I've been away. Great InstructionsThis was a great help on my CB160. At first the light was coming when I passed the F mark the I readjusted the points and the light came on when I reached F mark. It fired up and ran great. So many thanks
Re: WelcomeDid I miss using a timing light to set the points while the engine was running?. .........lm
