Here's a photo of the left side liner, the one that had the seizure. Interestingly, I see no grooves. I can't feel any, either. Still, I'll take it to a machinist and get a professional opinion.

I still love and ride the bike formerly known as "Ugly Betty". And you too will feel the joys of riding a machine that you have brought back to life.

I'm enjoying and learning from your restoration thread, and wish I was working on another Super Hawk--maybe one will appear some day.

Wow, it is nice to meet you! I so enjoyed reading your chronicle of that gorgeous bike. Your enthusiasm was infectious, and your work was impeccable. I loved your humor, too!

Hey - why not a Scrambler? I had a soft spot in my heart for one of those when I was a kid, and maybe one day...!

I can't wait to ride my Hawk. And that can be a problem. The "impatient" word keeps coming up. I have maintain focus, or I'll have a half-assed mess and not a beautiful sweet running bike.

Hah. Impatient. I resemble that remark... I have a Dream in pieces in my garage, with the pistons still frozen, and I keep thinking about how cool it's going to be to ride it...

LOL!!! That "Young Jedi..." phrase keeps popping into my feeble little brain! It's good to have expectations - keep the focus, you'll get there. So will I!

Hi,

Why do you think deep grooves should be seen with a seizure ? I certainly see evidence of a seizure in multiple spots, but it's hard to tell if this is a full seizure caused by oil / heat issue's or by humidity / fuel issue's (water / fuel in the oil). For sure a re bore required,

Please make some pictures of the piston belonging to this cylinder,
