Piston Compatability

Post by clhiller » Thu Jun 21, 2012 12:22 pm

I am redoing a CA78 and need new pistons. I have a set of S2 pistons from a CB77. Can I use these and what will it do to compression?

They will work, thats what I pulled out of my CA78, but they do lower the compression.

How significant is the drop in compression? Is it a noticable drop in power?

I really don't have a good basis for comparison. I didn't ride it before pulling it apart. I wouldn't be surprise if someone the forum has that information. Unless your worried about cost I'd go with the right ones. Starting with lower compression can't be a good thing. Aftermarket from Ohio Cycle aren't that expensive, if he still has some.
