1967 Dream Rebuild1967 Dream RebuildI recently bought a 67. A compression test has revealed a tired engine with 90PSI in the right(only side I could get to fire) and 60 in the left. So, a top end is in order.
In addition I have a number of broken fins on the cylinder so Id like to replace it with a new one. So.... 1. Anyone have a good cylinder they would like to part with? If I go eBay, any differences on cylinders throughout production? 2. Where are you guys sourcing pistons and rings? 3. I was going to freshen head too with valve springs and seals also. So, same question as above. Thanks fellas.... Jason 1. As far as I know there's no difference- but I'm no expert on that.
2. http://www.ohiocycle.com/ is where I got mine. He had both OEM and aftermarket pistons at that time. 3. Check Ohio for your other parts too. There are no valve seals in these heads. Valve springs usually aren't needed, I'd be more concerned about the valves sealing surface. Turn the head upside down with plugs in place and put some solvent in the cup and check for leakage. If there isn't too much use some lapping compound, otherwise a valve job may be in order. From what I've read it's best to use Honda issue valves rather than aftermarket, if necessary. 63 CA78

OK, now to my question...since he didn't say if this is a 305 or 250, I'll ask the question on my mind: If it is a 250, could he swap for a 305 top end, or or there other parts that would be needed? BTW, since OP didn't say the motor size, I don't think this actually qualifies as a hijack of his thread :-) (although if it is I will take my punishment.)
