what do I have
what do I haveHello everyone,
I am new to Honda dreams. I found this bike for sale and liked it's looks so I bought it. I am now trying to figure out what exactly it is. The frames vin is c72–A10175, and the engines vin is c72e–A10177. Any information would be really helpful. Thank you Cody
Yes, 1960 CA72 (USA) if tubular handlebars, 1960 C72 (non USA) if pressed metal handlebars. There are very few of the 1960 models, since that was the first year of the wet sump engine with 12V electrical. Yours is the 175th off the line, though they must have screwed up two engines, since the frame and engine numbers don't match. (First 1960 I've seen that didn't have matching numbers)

This was the forerunner of the CA72. Should have the tubular 'bars from a 'CE71' Dream Sport (model code 257) and a few other parts from that unsuccessful model in the handlebar area. Bike vin is CL77 1004760 Motor vin is CB77E 1042202 Any help would be great! I never though to check this before I bought the bike. I imagine this drops the value quite a bit, your thoughts? Thanks, Larry 1965 Honda cl-77

Your bike is a CL77 scrambler and the engine is from a CB77 roadster. Does the engine have a tachometer drive from the left hand end of the cam? CLs did not have that. The motors are pretty similar otherwise. G '60 C77 '60 C72 '62 C72 Dream '63 CL72
