New guy hereI managed to get the front end on today. Can't tell ya how much better I feel just seeing that bike starting to looking normal again. It's been sitting in my garage all gnarled up, staring at me for almost a year now. I still have to install bars, fix the tank and repaint it, lower the engine and replace the valve cover and fix the electrics. Hopefully I can attempt to ride her later this week.
Tomorrow I will try and fix my tank. When the accident happened, I think my jeans hung on the right side tank cover and ripped it off the tank. When that happened, it also pulled that little bung where it attaches and put a hole there. I guess I'll try JB Weld. It says its safe for fuel tanks but we shall see. I did think about something like that. Not sure at the moment if I'll need to. I may just need some more time. Some days are good with decent movement and other days I don't wanna get out of bed cause of all the pain, needless to say I don't wanna move the ankle either... I fired up the hawk today for the first time since the wreck. She sounds just like I remember. I am curious about the exhaust though. The left exhaust is colder than the right. The right pipe I can only touch for a sec but I can rest my hand on the left one. This leads me to believe that maybe shes not firing on that side, but she idled just fine. Any ideas on this?
Since no one knew the answer to my previous question, I went ahead and ordered an older tree just to be safe. It kindda sucks since I was almost done with the bike and now it has to come back apart again. Well, I had to sell the hawk. Didn't want to, but needed the money at the moment. Luckily I sold it to a friend, so I'll still see it all the time. One good thing is I kept my seat and I just happen to have 3 cb77 motors in the garage along with forks, tanks and other bits. I'll get a frame sometime soon and build another one. Keep you eyes open for the next thread. I have a feeling it's going to be more race oriented than my last build.
