Need arguments for not quitting....

I've been through the same thing. Questioned myself many a time, wondering what I got myself into. I'd fix something, get it running and something else would break. I was getting very frustrated and wanted to give up. You just have to step away every once in a while and take a break. I bought the bike to learn on. And now every time something goes wrong, I see it as something new to learn. My bike is 50 years old, so I have a feeling its going to be an ongoing process of repair! It helps if you have another bike to ride while you fix it up!

Thanks. Started this post looking for arguments not to quit. And I have heard lots of good ones.

One problem solved - sort of.

Took old reliable CB160 out this afternoon and guess what, it started hesitating.

Looked at the filters and they look like they are not filling up. There is gas in lines, but gaps and air bubbles too.

These are the same fancy filters I installed on the CB77 right before things got ugly.

Either they both (meaning all four) clogged at the same time (been on the 160 for four months - on the CB77 one day), or they are a little too good and don't let enough gas in.

Gonna take the filters off for a test on both bikes and see what I discover. If not the filters, then maybe both petcocks clogged, or bad gas?

The god of Honda hates me?

Filter fixed 160, made 305 better but not fixed.

Have you thoroughly cleaned the tank and petcocks of both bikes?

Cleaned in December, when I started the project. Could use another clean.

The problem appears to be fixed, as follows:

Left carb slide sticking from too tight bolts.

Needles not in same position and too high a setting.

Clogged inline filters.

Crappy air filters.

Fixed the slide, put on pods, fixed the needles, and it is starting and running great.

Pulled out the baffles, which also seemed to help - less restricted feeling.

Now I am a little lean, and need to put in 140 or 150 jets.

Seems to be coming along now, after hitting rock bottom.

Glad to see you changed your mind. The CB 160 is undoubtedly a ball to ride, but you'll REALLY like the 305 when you get it sorted out.
