Okay I'll try again. And not to get "hung up" on model year, but going by serial number...

Issues:
Chrome front fender wrong for serial number 102
Bobbed rear fender
Pod air filters
Metal tank badges
Blue paint (at least it looks blue to me)
Chrome horn
Unpainted engine cases
Broken fin on finned cam coverplate
Missing plug wire supports
Wrong plug caps
Round mirrors. Should be rectangle
I don't see the upper breather fittings and tubes.
Right side cover latch (ring nut) looks metal. Should be plastic with threaded metal insert
Looks like GT grips
missing muffler

I WANT HIS RIMS!!!

$2100 for this bike. I'm feelin' really good about mine.

This is an interesting one for sure! I have a mettalic blue 67, but the serial number is much higher, the blue is much darker, and the fenders are both chrome. You caught a lot of incorrect items for sure! How about those brake and clutch cables? Looks like they are from an old chopper kit, 6-10 inches over stock length! Chrome horn is correct, and the valve guide breather vents were eliminated, I'm not sure at what serial # that occured.

I have to admit that I cheated on the breather fittings. I thought they were a first year only item. But according to my parts book they were correct up to 1038129. I thought it might be an early engine with a lot of late cycle parts. So when I did not see the fittings, I checked my parts book. 102 SN should have them.

My chrome fender '67 with a 105 SN has a black horn so I figured chrome was not correct. Saw a chrome horn on a beat up bike for sale locally and it also had a chrome headlight bucket. Assumed the chrome horn was either from another bike or an accessory item for a chromed headlight upgrade.

These exercises are useful because they make you look for what belongs with what. I thought the steel sliders on the forks were around longer than they were. Same for the front brake. I guess this all relates back to leftovers being sold a year or two later and the actual model year being misrepresented by the registration/title. Plus owners that don't know the details think the model year is correct. I just bought a '66 CB160 that says 1969 on the title.

Were there not MSO's from the factory with bikes back then? That would explain how a dealer could sell a leftover as this year's bike.

Not cheating, doing your homework! In this case, as in many I believe, the current owner assumed that the bike was correct as received, and restored it as it was.

Ya are a good example of why looking at bikes which are not OURS but up for sale are great learning tools.
I remember when Some Of Ya didn't have a clue and truly enjoy the fact that as I watch today ya are really "INTO IT" with what ya have learned over time.
BTW! I have been chastised by the owner of the Black bike.
I do know him (really a nice feller) and explained he may want to better describe his offers and not blame you or me for what is seen.
