Popping, Stalling, Right Side Running Rich

My patience is being tested with my never ending battle with this bike...

Tuned following Ed's recipe. Cleaned the carbs twice now. Set floats using Ed's eyeball method. Air screws at 1 1/4 turns out. I am running out of ideas.

Slide screws all the way in: Right side runs way richer than left, judging by pressure coming from exhaust, more from right. If I unscrew the right slide more than one turn it stalls out.

Slide screws set at throttle slides bottomed out: Left side pops like crazy and I can feel little drops of gas flying from the carb (air filters off) when it pops.

What now?

Went through everything again this morning. Timing, valve settings, carbs, etc. Found the problem. The lock nut on the left side exhaust valve was loose. All seems good in the world now.

Cool! It always pays to start over at the begining, and work your way through. Have you snced the carb slides?

The only synching I've done is the thumb/middle finger to make sure they move at the exact same time. Should I be doing more?

That's correct. They need to lift at the same time.
