No Power at 'R' Point or Spark

Post by skisurf » Fri Nov 25, 2011 5:50 pm

I've been trying to follow Ed's tune up instructions and I can't for life of me get power from the "R" point. I've tried cleaning the points several times, nothing. Adjusting and re-adjusting, nothing. Moving the points plate around, nothing.

"L" side is completely fine.

I also tried testing my spark plugs and nothing on the right side.

Any ideas what the problem is?

Played around with it a little more and the only time I can get any light at all is when the "r" side is open and I flick the "l" side. We're only talking a spark of light, the fastest little flicker. It won't stay on.

Good call. The condenser ground was bolted on the right side coil instead of the bolt holding the condenser to the coil.
