She lives! She lives! So after two and a half years, I finally got to ride the CA77.
I popped in here from time to time for some advice, thanks very much to all who helped. While I was able to get most everything working pretty much properly, it was thanks to a really talented mechanic who looked the whole thing over and picked up on all of the small details that my untrained eye didn't catch. And why I was having the devil of a time getting my carb adjusted? One of the jets had been damaged in cleaning. I'm not sure if it was like that when I got it or if I did it myself, but I had checked and rechecked it so many times I thought I was losing a bit of my mind! It's not much of a photo, but here's the start of the test ride. It was quite a distance home and she really rode beautifully. Not the prettiest girl on the block, but if she runs solidly I'll be a happy camper. I haven't commuted to work (20+ miles, mostly parkways, against traffic) via two wheels in ages, but as soon as I get it inspected and tagged all will be good for that.
