I use a Q-tip moistened with water and dipped in baking soda.
Cut the Q-tip in 2 and chuck it in a drill, and it is a perfect fit for the diameter of the float valve seat.
I've also heard of others using Honda metal polish, but it may leave some sort of protective residue that may need to be removed, so I haven't tried that.
It may be overkill, but who knows for sure?
I've had the exact same issue before, only to take the carb apart and find nothing wrong, put back together and re-install and the problem goes away, for a while.
