Not familar with CAs but CLs have a vent hole in the gas cap that can cause similar problems when plugged.
I hear you about the weather, if it's not blazing hot it's raining here, hurry up October.
Yes, good one! That could be it as well!

I'll check the vent out tonight, how would one polish the valve seat.

Thanks for the help guys. It is only going to be 105 today!

I use a Q-tip moistened with water and dipped in baking soda.

Cut the Q-tip in 2 and chuck it in a drill, and it is a perfect fit for the diameter of the float valve seat.

I've also heard of others using Honda metal polish, but it may leave some sort of protective residue that may need to be removed, so I haven't tried that.

It may be overkill, but who knows for sure?

I've had the exact same issue before, only to take the carb apart and find nothing wrong, put back together and re-install and the problem goes away, for a while.

TOOTH PASTE

Post by FAST FRED » Mon Jul 18, 2011 12:56 pm

Back in the day we used tooth paste to lap in our promlematic float valves. Remove float valve from carb, hold seat in one hand add a dab of tooth paste and insert valve and twist back and forth about a dozen times, clean with water and than carb cleaner. Reinstall and test, repeat if nessesary.

Check out your gas line connection to your carb. I found that sometimes there is a screen there and after many years it rusts and clogs up, restricting the flow of gas.

Also check that your float moves freely with no restrictions. If so you can bend it a little so it dosnt hang up.
