Hi,

Yes, mine (C78) has vin number 100544, (six digits), and it's a '64, loom is '63 and no, like LM pointed out, no type I engines in dreams, never heard of, never seen, always a 360 crank.

The difference between C78 and CA78 is that the A stands for America, there are some minor differences in transmission and jetting, but otherwise the same.

I don't don't know of any of the 1964 issues with a 4 as first number and 6 digits.
The CL72 had 7 digits with a 1 and a 4 as the first digit in 1964. .................lm

Thanks for straightening me out on the S'N's. I thought I had it figured out, but obviously not.
I have asked several times and no one has pointed to any difference between CA 77's ('63 and prior) and CA78 ('64 and after).
The frame of mine is stamped as CA783-13246, so by that I would say the CA78's were made in 63 as well, or am I confuse there too? (Entirely possible.) I couldn't find a year tag on my wiring loom.
63 CA78
