Another newbie, Just picked up a 305

Post by murray-eliminator » Mon May 30, 2011 12:20 am

had to have this after seeing it on my local craigslist. My Dad bought a brand new dream in 62 and this brought back some great memories!. now to get it back in good running shape.. first thing was the seller told me it had no compression when kicking it over. but after looking at it, it's obvious that the kick starter is not engaging. i put it in gear and pushed it and the motor does turn over but that's about all i know so far..It's missing the key so i guess that will be the first quest..will update as i get into this project. Looks like a great forum.

Nice one! Looks like you got an early model in pretty good shape. Do you know what year? If not post the frame and engine numbers.

Welcome to the forum.

Seems that many aquired their interest in these bikes the same way......My dad also had one back in the 60's. I'm betting that with a clean carb, key and battery she fires up.

BTW, I just noticed your user name.
