Did the speedo & tach both turn clockwise on a 1966? My 1966 (supposedly) has opposite turning guages. Were both available in 1966? Or did the PO swap this at some point.

Hi,
If LM says it's a 1966, it is a 1966, and the reference is the VIN, not a cluster. Not only the cluster is replaced, as is the seat among other things. It isn't very likely that a 40 year old bike is completely original, but it's a nice find, for sure, Jensen assembly of Japanese motorcycles requires great peace of mind (Pirsig)
Movin' forwardHaven't posted for awhile. Wifes' been keeping me busy with "spring renos". Got the bike pretty well tore apart. I need your opinion on the tranny gear dogs. Too rounded off or not? I'm hoping that a set of offset cotters will do the trick. It looks like I just have about 50% engagement now. Where is the best place to get those cotters?
I have the 14mm bushing and will replace that. I will also need .50 over piston rings. Any suggestions other than e-bay?

Disassembling rear shocksI have new upper shrouds for the rear shocks, but how do I get them apart to install?
Hi Chiller. There are a few threads on this already.
I tied a rope through the upper eye and tied it to a branch. I then grabbed the plastic upper shock tube near the top with both hands and hung my weight on it. It lowered exposing the two collar pieces which I flicked away with my thumbs. I installed them the exact same way but resting the collar pieces on top of the uppers first. Then when I pulled down to expose the collar seat, I slid them in with my thumbs. Slick. Dana
