Japan Meets Britain
Hmm -- I guess I'd have to look at it first and compare. The one good thing is that I already have this extra cover that I think I may have paid $10 for at Mid-Ohio a few years ago, so a bit of savings there as far as having to track down and buy another cover. But, maybe I'll see if my friend Scott has a spare cover, as he has a plethora of Dreams. Thanks for the suggestion!
Follow-Up to possibly using a Dream cover -- won't work, so I'm back to using my extra SuperHawk cover. No biggie.
Spoke with John yesterday and the engine should be all back together and in the bike today. My friend Lee is fixing a little issue with the gas tank, so hopefully all that will be buttoned up this week, and maybe - just maybe, the bike will be done by next week (then the road testing will begin!). The engine side cover mod will probably be done over the course of the next few weeks, but no real rush for that, as I'll probably ride the bike for the time being with the existing cover and a plug in the hole where the kickstart shaft was. This week the weather is going to be nice and in the 60's -- spring is fast approaching!
If ya are planning to modify a CB72/77 cover and it is perfect I recommend ya use the CL72/77 cover as they are more plentiful and will have one less hole to fill.
I have them here. ........lm
Actually the extra cover I have is not perfect (little crack in the expected spot!), and I only paid $10 for it at Mid-Ohio, so I might just stick with this one and modify it at some point. Here again, I'll probably just plug the existing cover on my bike with matching rubber plugs, and do up the extra cover whenever.
Spoke with John today, and the engine is going back in the frame tomorrow. Interesting thing -- he said that the pistons from the big bore kit are CB750 pistons (.25 o/s). So I guess I'll now have 1/2 a CB750-4 engine!
