1962 CB77 Restoration underway

Post by Hoosier Tom » Sun Jan 30, 2011 11:05 pm

Greetings all. I have been putting off restoring my 1962 CB77 and I figure I better get started. I thought I would post pictures, details and progress in order to make sure I get it as correct as I can with any help appreciated. I also though if someone else planned to do a '62 it might help down the line. I already sent Ed a later cush drive clutch assy to work his magic on as I want to replace the early unit that came on the bike.

Let the good times roll! HT

I started disassembly with the headlight bucket. I never paid much attention to the other Super hawks I have worked on, but I noticed the neutral light assy had Stanley punched into the fixing nut, which is metal, not plastic.

Cool, keep the details coming. I'm no expert on the years, but I've gathered that the 62 has the most unique parts out of all of them. Should be interesting.

61 is actually the first year for the CB77. The 61 and 62s seem to share a lot of parts that are unique to those years. Keep the pics coming!

Further solidifying my lack of expertise :-)

Seeing as how it might be appropriate for this thread. what were/are the major differences for the first two years. compared to '63? I know LM recently pointed out that the first year had the speedo mount built into the top fork brace. That's something I hadn't seen until someone posted a pic of it just recently.

Davo,

Thanks, my mistake and I fixed it. I'll keep the pictures coming. My cable adjusters have springs as shown. I have seen springs with star adjusters on the early CA77s I've had, but not with the small, round lock like mine. Is mine supposed to have the spring?
