Finding Dream tires is a Nightmare!!

This month in 2008 I started taking my '65 Dream apart and as I knew it would need tires I started looking for a set of tires, in 3.25-16" and heard about the Firestone/coker white walls but that they were not the best handing tire and the tread pattern looked like something off a 1927 Model T; so I never ordered any. last month I sent for a 100/90-16 Pirelli Sport Demon which was too big at 4.25" wide. I ordered two Shinko SR714 in 90/80 from my local Honda guy only because he guaranteed that they would fit; they were two inches shorter then the stock Nitto. The line-up: Sport Demon next to the SR714, Nitto, SR714:







Took the Shinko SR714's back to Honda (one nice thing about ordering local) and ordered two Shinko SR244 in 3.00x16" which is a dual-sport tire (Shinko didn't offer 3.25"):







It's 1.5" shorter then the 3.25" and 1.25" shorter then the original 3.00x16 on my CA95; they are 3.75" wide; the aspect ratio must be more like a metric tire then the tall Nitto.

This is getting real frustrating; I've run out of places to look; and the information on line and at the shops is wrong. I'm going to put these on My '63 Dream and see how much the ground clearance is. The tread pattern is more off-road then on and the tread blocks are tall, may squirm in the corners.

Not sure if Mitas tyres are available where you are but the Dunlop K82s should be. I have a pair of Mitas to fit to my Dream but I also found a NOS Avon speedmaster ribbed front which will go on for show purposes.


I checked for Mitas in the US and this came up....

Might be worth a try.

The only current production vehicle which still uses 3.25-16 as stock tire size I can find is Tomos scooters.
It is spec'd as rear for a couple of their models, so a dealer should be able to get them?

I'd be all over the Dunlops if they were available in USA, but they don't even show up on Dunlops' website here.

Seems stupid as the US must be the biggest market for that size tyre. I guess that they would be around $75 each plus shipping from UK.

Nice tyres though - I have them on my 400/4 and my Guzzi V50. Very quick steering and plenty of grip.

They will ship to the U.S no problem -- not necessarily the cheapest option, but if you want K82's you can surely get them.

K82's were rated as a 'best buy' by Classic Bike Magazine a few years back, and I had them on my '66 Dream (and currently have them on my SuperHawk). A very confidence-inspiring tire indeed.

The Mitas (formerly known as Barum) -- well, they're kinda like Cheng Shin tires.

can you guys in the UK still get ChengShin street tires? the 289's work well on dreams.
