I think this place also sells the same one phil denton has: http://www.honda305gearset.co.uk/home

Not sure if they offer a better price. I emailed the guy a while ago and he responded quickly. I also emailed phil denton with a list of things I wanted and some questions. No response from him.

Vince,
You do love a good upgrade or two don't you! From gas caps to gearboxes your CB77 may just
holler 'uncle' one day!!! At this rate the only stock item in a few more years may be the tank badges!
Rock on Vince and as always we'll expect some outstanding photographs along the way. dts

P.S. The tank badges are original aren't they???

Actually the badges are repros that Tim McDowell had a guy in the Netherlands make. They are really gorgeous (and really pricey!). I still do have the originals in a box somewhere.

I think the only 'original' untouched things left on the bike are the speedo and the frame.

I think the price is about the same (approx 1650 GBP), so not much choice there. I was just wondering what's different about the Phil Denton one that doesn't require modification, whereas the Nova one requires minor filing here and there.

I had a lengthy phone conversation with Gerry Cain (forum member Matain -- he called me, in Spain, from his home near London -- regarding his gearset; he's been extremely helpful and forthcoming about his product. Even invited me to his place to ride his CB77 to try-before-I-buy.

Judging by the fact that he responded so quickly -- whereas PDE didn't -- he's the guy I shall eventually buy from (other priorities, like a hungry CB250K, just now!).

Gerry is not only an engineer but also a 305 enthusiast; that means that one wouldn't be fobbed off or ignored if one had problems with fitting, etc.

That's then gent I talked to as well. Like you said, he invited me to come ride his bike should I ever make it to England. Very pleasant to converse with.

Vince, here's an older thread that talks about the gear set a bit: http://www.honda305.com/forums/viewtopi ... ttegearbox

I'm sure if you message the guy or email him through his website, he'd be able to explain the differences between the box he sells and the Nova.

The engine parts are coming along -- transmission's been ordered, the 350 bore/kit should be back by the end of next week, the head should be done in a couple of weeks, and my new 'competition' valve springs just arrived. And, we just got 4" of snow!
