The one you just got in Alabama? That sucks! At least it didn't cost too much.cyclon36 wrote:If it makes you feel better, the engine that was on the superhawk parts bike I just bought had the pistons rusted to the walls. Lots of crap in there and missing bolts inside the engine. Probably rattling around in the gears until it died.
New guy here
That's the one. It doesn't matter though, I'm only keeping the transmission and a few other parts from it anyway so it doesn't matter. Funny thing though, that black peanut tank was the most valuable thing on that bike so far according to ebay. Wouldn't have guessed. The engine I bought came in last night. Looks great and has the correct side cover! I pulled the stator cover and stuck a wrench on it and turned her over. No problems there. I looked down the right spark plug hole and it looks like the walls may be scarred a little, but I'll work on that later. So then, I stuck a shifter on her and tried to shift. That didn't turn out so well. Now, she has no oil in her right now, so that could be a factor. I believe she's like a Vespa meaning she has to be rocked back and forth to go into gear. I tried to turn the crank while attempting to put it in gear and that seemed to work fine up shifting, but down shifting didn't work. It's like the shifter got stuck when I was trying to down shift.
I'm new to these things. What are you guys opinions on how the tranny works? I was hoping that was the case. Well, it will have to wait until this weekend caisson going out of town for thanksgiving. By the way, I think my frame is trash. The battery box is completely gone and the is a dent in the curved downtube. I don't know if I trust it. I have found a nice powder coated frame already, I'm just waiting on pictures before I buy it.

No, no complaining at that price! Dig the C100, I restored one of those about ten years ago. Ended up trading it for a truckload of CB77 Parts bikes. Please post pics of the pan when you remove the foam.
