305 Dream Top Speed?

Post by Sascha » Wed Nov 17, 2010 11:52 am

Hey Guys,

What is the top speed you hit on your Honda 305 Dreams? Im just wondering if these bikes will do the ton? (100mph) I have heard yes and no from differing people... Just wanted to know what your take is on it.

I have little experience with the dreams,
but I'd be surprised if a 100% stock dream would get over 80mph pushing it.
the cb77's I've heard of getting CLOSE to the 100 mark, but I wonder how much of that is speedo error. Have to see one GPS'd to be sure.

I have never pushed my cb77 over 80. Had no need, and these are small LIGHT bikes. much easier to induce a skid than on a heavier bike.

hell, I don't often take my 800cc vulcan to 100mph. Wind is too strong to be comfortable.

The owner's manual lists top speed at 87 MPH.

That's probably with a 95# rider, crouched over in the Bonneville position.

I've had mine to 85MPH (GPS) on a very slight downhill with about 220# of ballast onboard, and it took a while to get there.

A Dream will not do 100. I have had mine up to about 75 I think and that was for about 10 miles in Canada. I can't actually remember if it was 75 or not but I'm pretty sure it was. I was trying to catch up to a Superhawk.

Your adventure sounds like fun. In 2006 I did 1300 miles on my Dream on a trip around Lake Superior.

This supercharged dream was built to run at Bonneville. Can't remember how fast it went, but well under 100 IIRC...

Top speed for Dreams

Post by ROBM50 » Fri Dec 10, 2010 4:02 pm

Several months back during mid spring, on my '66 Dream I hit 80 mph on about 1/4 mile flat surface with only about a 5 mph tail wind with throttle room still left. I was weighing about 191 lbs. at the time. I posted this on the ca77 section of the Forum and several riders responded who had gone even faster. One fellow talked of having gone 90.....Fully and finely tuned these little bikes can go but not much on the start.
