i actually wired my other bike to be like my superhawk with 'up' being low and 'down' being high.
I didn't think of it as up and down. i thought of it as forward and back. if i push forward on a planes controls it dives down, and if i pull back, it pulls up.
if i lean forward with a gun, i'm aiming down, if i lean back, i'm aiming high.
It's all about how you mentally perceive the mechanism I suppose :P

You did, Ed.
He did, Nick! But don't let it get you down; I do it all the time and I've given up trying to read through slowly.

Steve, Just wanted to take a second to thank ya for all the tips and how to's you've posted on electrical upgrades on these bikes.
One day i'll try to compile em all together and go through and do them one by one. I've abandoned hope of a stock restoration, so the goal is now "most reliable rebuild"

My pleasure, mucker! Information is, and should be, free, available and freely available. As with all of us here, I'm sure, my passion for the longevity of the 305 (and others) drives the dream (grrrooooaan!). With (sometimes-hidden) improvement comes reliability (hopefully).
