Carb Rebuild - putting back together.

im afraid that the floats are too low...

i am judging by horizon at the base of the carburetor. where the gasket lies. I make that as straight as possible and then look to see if the main jet housing is in view... or am i suppose to judge at the top of the floats??

Remove the brass jet holder and the bottom (top as viewed in your pic) of the float should be level with the stub of the carb body that it screws in to, with the float tang just touching, but not depressing the float valve piston.
That should make the distance from the gasket surface to the bottom of the float 22.5 mm.

i got all that down, but when i am eyeballing it, it can been seen from two different perspectives.

1. look at the float from the top *bottom of float because it is upside down* and create a horizon and see if i can barley see the brass jet holder

or

2. look at the float from the bottom of the carburetor housing, where the gasket lies, in and see if i can barley see the brass jet holder.

i went with option 2, because if i look at it from option 1, the brass jet holder is out about half an inch.

It's now time to adjust the float.
At the area of the pin on the float is a small/tiny tab which contacts the pin.
Ya will need to bend it in a direction which will have the float as lee shows it.
Lay the carb on the side as the weight of the float can push the pin down if ya have the carb upside down. .......lm

i guess i should ask this...

should i be looking at it from the top *option 1*?

or should i be looking at it from the bottom *option 2*

the two have completely different measurements and perspectives.
