Gun, if only you were serious, I could sell you a 5 speed NOVA trans which has never been used, plus one of several Megacycle cam grinds we have in stock. Bought them for different projects.

You need to add a cam, new valves and a spring kit to that shopping list BTW.

Bill at Bore Tech has a good reputation I believe in vintage care circles. That particular kit is one way to go and probably uses modified CB350 64mm pistons which is what I used to use or may use modified 65mm CB350 pistons.

What I used to do was to find cheap sets of CB750 barrels and push out the liners. Have them shortened to fit the CB77 barrel. Push out the stock CB77 liners and bore the muff to suit the shortene4d CB750 liners, then bore and hone to match the new pistons. Don't forget to machine the valve pockets too and to open up the crankcase mouth to accept those larger liners.

Other model liners such as KZ650 would also work. If you can't get them cheap, it's probably as easy to buy liners from LA Sleeve or get Aluminum liners from Advaced Sleeve and get them plated by Millenium in WI.

Base gaskets and head gaskets are available and several people sell valves and spring kits.

teazer, i'd do it in a heart beat if i hadn't lost my job a few months back. I barely found work again, and not anywhere near the pay I was at before... so it'll be a while before I can save up for all the things I'd like to do.

first thing is first... save up to buy an engine/carbs from ol ED MOORE
then make a big bore cafe project out of my existing engine that is in need of a lot o work

Is this up forsale on the open market or would you just sell it to Gun as a buddy deal?

teazer,
I've been wondering about 350, 750 kz650 piston and liner swaps -- perhaps you can enlighten me about some potential issues that crossed my mind? Will there be an issue with fitting piston pins from other bikes (i.e. do they fit)? Also, 750 pistons aren't domed like the CB77, right? So, doesn't this mean you are getting more cc's but a lower compression ratio?

Thanks,
nander

I think that Teazer was talking modified cb350 pistons in Modified CB750 liners. The CB350 pistons will have a dome that may need machining to clear CB77 head and valves.

Thank your G man. Exactly. KZ650 pistons and CB750 pistons are really low crown and CR would be way too low.

Thanks for clearing that up for me guys, I've been wondering about that for a while.
So, are the cb350 wrist pins the same diameter as the 305's?
