big bore kit..anybody running this with luck?

Does anybody on this board use their kit or any of their parts. I was only able to find a few posts mentioning the company with little feedback on this board. They also have the electronic ignition. Same one that's offered through this board? The pictures look the same but a previous post from a few years ago said they don't offer it anymore due to voltage irregularity issues with the CB77.

If anybody does have it or has experience with the big bore kit, can you give feedback on reliability and quality of the product. Also, would any major carb work have to take place for this. I'm guessing rejetting is a must.

just need me 2 grand for a 5 speed, and 400 bucks for this kit, and i'll have a neat engine for a custom cb77. I'd say 'cafe racer' but I certainly ain't going to pretend I know what that all entails.

I would love the 5speed kit but you have to ditch the kick starter to use it. To me, the kickstarter is way cooler than the extra speed :-)

that's a very good point. The year I had my superhawk up and running, I didn't use the electric starter once.

I was the same way this summer before I parked it. It's almost tempting to take the starter off and not deal with it. Kind of a stretch, but it's kind of like the difference between a manual and auto transmission on a car. I like to do things myself if possible. Not up to the point of actually peddling the thing of course :-)

With the ever growing pile of scrambler parts in my shop, I was considering putting my cb engine in a cl frame to do a custom job thinking it would be nice to have an electric starter. I'd have to modify the frame of course. Now after reading your posts, I realize that there is a certain ambiance to these things to include the ks. I guess I was trying to find a good use for this cb engine. I suppose I could put it into the ebay parts stream,,,,,,,, Oh dread!!!!!!!!!! Rusty

I'd vote make a dual sport bike and just leave the starter off the engine. Doesn't need to be there.

unless you change the gear ratio and have appropriate sprocket ratio, it's not going to make a hell of a dirt bike... BUT put some nice knobbies on there and you've got a camping machine that will take you from town to the mountains, and to where you're fishing, and back.
