So now I know that my CB77 is a '64 Type 1.
What is the diffrence between the type 1 and 2? If I have missed something here in the vast blanket of threads, please dont waste your time repeating it, links would be excellent and much easier.

Type 1 is a 180 degree motor, type 2 is a 360 degree motor. Almost all, there are a few exceptions, CB and CLs have the type 1 motor.

So as it turns out I now know that I have a very low VIN for the beginning production of the type split off. Not sure what that means in terms of value though. The CB77's dont quite fetch the kind of money I was expecting on ebay. But all in all, still a bike with alot of potential.
Anybody know where to get a replacement kickstart lever, last check of ebay was a bust.
also does the kicker go forward on this model or rearward? Didnt want to use vicegrips to test it:)

Kicker kicks forward.

Now if you had a Type 2 CB77 with an engine number beginning 40... you might have something interesting.

In my parts book I cannot identify any Type 2 parts for a bike with that range of engine numbers. It almost suggests that there weren't any....

My CB77 is also a Type 1 '64 with engine number CB77E 102535 so a couple thousand later than yours.

not in quite such good condition either......

you are not really serious are you? $80 for a kick starter parts, and it is not even close to a complete assembly. The lever says NOS but looks covered in rust, claims it is goo. Need spring, circlip and rubber boot, so say for $120 I could build a kick starter lever, if I can find the rest of the parts on ebay. And from the looks of it, the lever is rusty too. I will scour every salvage yard before I would stoop so low as to pay the extortionist prices you suggested.
Not that I dont appreciate your trying, but I asked if anybody has a spare assy to sell.
For another $180 and the price of that idea, I could buy another bike for what I paid for this one. IMO it is not that cool, I like it, but... No bike is gonna put me in the poor house misc parts.
