Really old CB77Really old CB77I have been working on a bunch of bikes for a guy, who asked me today to go look at a CB77 for him. The owner thought it was a 65 dream, but it was not. After looking at the bike and the numbers on it, I told the dude I have been working for to get it. Check out the vin# on it :) I am wondering if anybody knows what was the first VIN shipped to the us was? I live in Spokane WA, kinda wierd place to find something this rare...
WowI don't know what No. the first one imported was but that's pretty damn close. Do you know any of the bikes history? Is it for sale? I live just over the mountains from ya..........................................D
Not getting any youngerApparently the last owner (not the one we got it from) has had it for a long time. The seller we dealt with only had it for 2 days, and NO IDEA what he had. He claims to have rebuilt the motor and it was painted gold at some point in history. We have been promised a title and keys for it. Paid $300 for this unit. Amazingly found the tool kit intact and lo and behold a little aluminum strip with the key pattern cut in it. Will probably restore it and sell to the highest bidder. Dont really know any history unforutanetly. It was last tabbed in 1980. Hope he can come up with the title, since WA no longer restores inactive titles older than 7 years. It all appears to be there except for the kick starter lever and the trim cover on the left side of the starter. Motor is not siezed, but does not seem to have much compression when pushing.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't 61 and 62 have 5 digit frame numbers, 63 & 64 had 6 digit frame numbers and 65 on had the seven digit frame numbers. (at least that's they way I'm remembering it) Since that one is a super low 6 digit number, bet's are that it's an early 63 bike. One of the first ones from that year model to come over, but definitely not one of the first CB77's to come to the US.
