just wanted to say hello

Post by dreamrider » Mon Oct 25, 2010 4:02 pm

Hi been looking at the board for a while. I've just bought my 1968 ca77 and am going to rebuild it this winter. Mostly just paint and new tires. I runs great but haven't ridden it much yet. Great board and great information I've read all ready. Thanks and hi to all.

Welcome to the forum.
Looks like it's in pretty good shape already.
What size tires are on it now....3.50x16 Firestones?

brewsky they are 3.25 would 3.50 be ok. I'm going to look for white walls. The bike looks good from 15 feet the guy I got it from painted it with a brush :(. I ask a ton of questions but not about the paint and he didn't tell :) Have you seen the bags before I think I like them but not sure yet. I broke one bring it home but they are plastic so shouldn't be too hard to fix. Had to buy a pet cock and rebuild it so painting will be next.

3.25's are the correct size and are hard to find.
The only whitewalls available now seem to be Coker Firestones and they are pricy...there are some threads about them and some blems that might be available.
The only other whitewall possibility is Port-a-Walls which are sometimes available.
3.50's will work and 90/90/16 should work
The bags are newer and don't fit the bike aesthetically (at least in my opinion)
Period bags are also hard to find and pricy, but there is a set on ebay right now (or was) original style narrow Buco if you do a search.

Hi. Nice bike. I like the seat set up. Better adjust that kick start though. :)

Called Coker today and they do not have whitewalls, the rep told me that they were working on the molds and would not have new ones until spring, no exact date yet and they were 117.00 per tire no blems. do not want blackwalls so i will wait until spring.
