Update on the build...

Post by Sascha » Thu Oct 21, 2010 1:23 pm

Hey guys,

So my friend came by who is building a Honda CB550 into a cafe racer and snapped some pics that he posted to his FLICKR account... Check out the nickel plated parts and stuff:

Really nice. Did you get the nickle parts clear powder coated? Nickle absorbs moisture worse than chrome and has to be polished and protected.

I have a nickle plated TZ frame and it needs to be stripped and mechanically polished before it's replated and clear coated.

I had the nickel plating done at a place called Mayfair that only does plating and they said it is preppared correctly so I should be fine!

Yeah, its coming along nicely... For those of you that are vintage guys, you would like the build... its going to have a lot of custom work done to it. Expect another update with pictures of the actual reassembly in the next week or so. Should be interesting!
