I have cleaned all the engine parts and am beginning reassembly after a complete teardown.
Should I use some kind of special assembly lubricant or is 30 weight engine oil just as good?
Also the manual I have has torque specs for some specific nuts but not a general specification for odds and ends. For all the miscellaneous parts that bolt into the aluminum case what should I torque the fasteners to?
Are there any specific bolts or nuts that need a special torque that I might forget?
Thanks,
Kevin.
Assembly lube and general torque specsI began assembled the shifter and transmission over the weekend. I ended up using a generic assembly lube that comes in a tube from autozone. It is definitely much thicker than regular weight oils which worked out to be cleaner and should protect better. It says it dissolves in engine oil and I assume that will apply to the non-detergent variety also.
