Seat trims - help needed
Seat trims - help neededHi All,
A while back I had an incident in which alot of my Dream stuff was stolen by a guy who had promised to do work - short version of this story is that he relocated himself 2000km away, took my stuff & my cash & never trumped up with the work. Anyways, almost a year later, I managed to retrieve most of my stuff. The guy was supposed to recover two seats for me - I got the seats back in their original state, minus the covers & the stainless mouldings around the base. Does anyone have one or two of these trims they would be prepared to sell me & ship to Melbourne, Australia? I'm commencing on two dream rebuilds shortly & will need the trims to complete. If anyone can help, I'de be most appreciative. Regards, Rob. rob what i used is chrome trim from the autoparts store with double side tape attached to the trim. looks the same as the oem but instead of being fasten on with screws i used the doublesided tape which sticks quite well.
anything is possible if you have the drive blood sweat and tears to get it done!
Rob, I've been on the lookout for that trim strip for about 5 months and I've yet to see one on offer without buying a whole seat attached to it. Even though I share your misgivings I might just bite the bullet and give the adhesive strip a try.
I contacted several of the seat cover dealers on eBay and not a single one of them sold just the chrome strip- one (can't remember which) said he looked into remanufacturing them and couldn't make the numbers work. Every now and again I allow myself to dream of starting a business that manufactures CA and CB77 mufflers, JIS screws, CA77 carb covers and that @#%$! chrome seat trim. '63 CA77 - Giving me all kinds of headaches.
'64 CA77 - Patiently waiting it's turn '65 CB77 - A 'great winter project'
Try emailing eBay's vintage_001. TC -- vintage_001@yahoo.com -- specialises in pattern seats.....with trims, so a new pattern seat (or just take off the trim -- the seats are quite cheap and reasonably-made) may suit your needs.
