Motor howl/ whirring

Post by jjjjjj » Tue Jul 13, 2010 11:37 pm

I have a late model Dream and upon decelerating there is a short rpm range where the bike howls and then it resloves. Happens in all gears, not neutral. Bike runs well, with 12k miles. Do I have a problem? Any thoughts? Thanks!! Jeff in Bend, Or.

Could be a a loose panel (toolbox cover/air filter covers), air filter, engine mounting bolt, exhaust/muffler bolt, etc.. Your description makes me think it could be a vibration harmonic at the given rpm under throttle shut-off conditions.
