CL77 Strret Tracker
CL77 Strret Tracker
I've been working on this project on and off for about 8 months, It's already been running, and ridden, and it's a gas. It pulls wheelies, and she isn't even broken in. 3mm over pistons, CL72 crank, X'd gears, heavy valve springs, all else stock in motor. Frame is a 67 CL77, swingarm 63 CL72, front end 72 SL350, SL350 front hub, CL72 rear hub, alloy rims, resevoir shocks, XR750 style seat and fender, Pro Taper bars, and the list goes on. It's very nearly complete, and I can't wait to get her out for a good ride.

You know, I'm really a stock sorta guy, but I really like it! Are the pipes period aftermarket? Seems like MC, or Wisco, or someone like that made those pipes in the 60's.... I had them on a 160, but hadn't seen them in a 250... I've always wanted to have a set bent to go up the wrong side (RC-71 style) just to screw people up when they looked at the bike...lol.. You know, we all geek out over this bolt or that bolt being correct, and see who notices the entire set of pipes are reversed...
Paul, I too like the stockers. I just happen to have 6-7 frames, and a lot of parts that have no matching #s, or have been modified in the past, scraped and dinged or bent, basically unusable for a stock resto. So.... I build customs, what a great way to justify having all of that crap around! The left side pipe is stock, and the right side is made from a left and a right, with a few cuts and welds. The AM pipes from back in the day had sharp bends on both pipes at head exit. I wanted better flow for the 3mm over engine, so decided to go this route. I can't tell you how much more work it is to do a custom, compared to a stock resto. Not many parts just bolt right on, lots of fabricating, welding, thinking rethinking .
