Hi guys.
I think LM got closest to the truth.
The system in UK in the 60's was a maximum 250cc limit for learner riders. Hence the CB72 was more popular. I don't remember any tax issues, but I am forgetting things nowadays.
I bow to superior knowledge with the 1965 to 1967 dates.
Well done gents, Dave will be pleased.
Take care, Brian.

Hi Brain,

In the Netherlands the insurance of these bikes is coupled to it's cc's and power delivery.
A CB72 is cheaper in assurance than a CB77 because of that.

Both reasons are financial., taxes and insurance,
Like I said I know at least one, probably more CB72 from 1967.

The Dutch market, together with the German market where the first country's who got the CB72's.
In 1961 it was introduced, and late 1967 it was discontinued, in 1968 the CB250 came to replace the CB72.

If you have reason to believe that the data I gave in this post or the previous posts is wrong or incomplete, please convince me with facts or data which shows clearly that I am mistaken,

Hi Jensen, no reason to doubt you mate. All I said was that in England the limit was 250cc maximum for a learner rider in the 1960's. I reckon that there are 1967 CB72s about also. I'll find one some day.
Take care.
Regards Brian.

G,day,
I think I have a late model CB72, my frame is cb72-1008932.The engine is 1008947.
The bike has blinkers as standard, brackets welded to frame on rear. The front blinkers are on
the headlight brackets. Blinkers are similar shape to Australian 450,s but diferent. I would like to know the date of manufacture? Can anyone help please.
Regards,
Wayne.
