Speedo Restoration Before/After Pics?

Post by ivancook » Thu Dec 17, 2009 10:56 am

Hey everyone. I looked through the forum and found some good info on speedo restoration, but could not really find any before/after pics.

Trying to get a good idea of what to expect visually from a good resto, so please post some before/after pics if you've got 'em.

Thanks in advance!

Guys

I do my own speedo restorations. The hardest part is getting the bezel off but that just needs care. Once you are inside there really are no mysteries. The kit usually just needs cleaning and then lubricating. If allowed to dry out the speedo will stick until the force builds up enough to fling the needle around the dial with great force. If the spring has not died the cure is to clean and lubricate the main input shaft.

Most dials can be 'restored' by gently washing them in soapy water. The brown discoloration of the dials is just produced by evaporating solvent. I'm going to produce a little calibration rig soon but there is not much to adjust, the mechanism is really rather simple.

There are a few pics here if you want more, just ask.
