my elec starter won't start the bike. even with a new, fully charged battery it barely moves, however 1 easy kick and it starts. any suggestions?

When you say "it barely moves" are you referring to the starter barely turning? If the bike starts easy with the kick start then you must have a problem with the starter. The only other thing is the starter chain and the chain sprocket clutch mechanism that turns the crank. Usually when the clutch mechanism fails the starter just spins the sprocket around without turning the crank. there are 3 little springs this that push rollers out that engage to turn the crank. If these springs are weak or gunked up they will cause failure. You can take your starter off and run it with a battery charger to see how it spins out of the bike.It may spin, but not have any power. Let us know what you find. Joe
